How to maintain your melamine surfaces

Many surfaces within our homes are made with melamine boards, including our kitchen cupboards, wardrobes and even certain floors. Due to the prevalence of melamine surfaces in our homes, it is important to learn how to correctly maintain and clean them; as, with the correct maintenance and regular cleaning, your melamine surfaces will not only remain clean and in good condition as time passes, but they will also last longer without showing signs of wear and tear. Maintaining your melamine surfaces is a fairly simple process and, provided you use the correct methods and cleaning products, will keep them in a better condition for longer.

The most important part of maintaining your melamine surfaces is to ensure that they are cleaned correctly and regularly. To properly clean your melamine surfaces, you will need to start by giving the surface a wipe down with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dust that may have settled on it. Once as much as possible of the dust has been wiped off you can then proceed to cleaning the surface using a damp cloth and water mixed with a mild detergent. Once you have cleaned the melamine surface it is important to ensure that you thoroughly dry the surface so that no moisture remains, as this could lead to mould and mildew.

It is very important that you take care to avoid using any household cleaning products which contain organic solvents such as ammonia, bleach and turpentine; as well abrasive cleaners, sandpaper or pot scourers, as these could easily do damage your melamine surfaces.

Following these simple cleaning tips is a great way to ensure that your melamine surfaces are properly cleaned and maintained, so that they last longer.
